Side Reins
| For lungeline work to be most effective you'll need
to introduce your horse to work in side reins. Conventional side reins,
(Custom-Tack's Quick & Easy™ side reins) help the horse
to keep his head and neck straight in relation to his shoulders. Sliding
side reins (Custom-Tack's ReBalance™ sliding side reins) have
the added advantage of introducing the horse to roundness through
the neck and back. The D ring adjustments on our side reins make them
easy to adjust even with a fidgety young horse! |

VERSATILITY: Quick & Easy™ Side
Reins have an extra snap at the girth end of the side rein, making
them even more versatile to use. Side reins can be attached to the
pommel of the saddle to approximate a rider's rein contact. Donut
side reins may be attached with the donut at the girth end, avoiding
'bouncing Donuts' near the horse's mouth. (See below) If a loop
around the girth is preferred, the extra snap can be parked on a
specially placed D ring to keep it out of the way. Side reins can
also be looped through the bit ring for further adjustment. Anyway
you do it, they're easy to use! |

side reins with snap and D-ring give us the flexibility we desire
as trainers and the quality we demand as consumers.”

We found them most suitable for collected work 'on a seasoned horse.'"

For those times when there's no place to hook the side reins
onto the girth. Made of extra wide cotton with a large (1.5")
D ring, BIG ENOUGH for most snaps. For the rider who has horses
of different sizes, the girth attachment can also be used as an
extender for side reins, draw reins and sliding side reins, because
it adds 9" to the overall length of a rein. Available in
black only.

ReBalance™ Sliding
Side Reins

INVITE THE HORSE to stretch head and neck forward and down,
developing relaxation and self carriage. If the horse avoids contact
with regular side reins, leans on them or only stays round in one
gait, these are for him! Especially effective on horses with high
head carriage, or tightness in the back muscles, the 'sliding' effect
of the rein at the bit ring produces steady contact and a calmer,
rounder, more relaxed horse. Especially effective on ponies and
other horses with short fat necks! Made from heavy cotton web in
Dark Brown, Black or Navy to hide arena dust. Easily adjusted and
different positions according to the level of training of the horse.
Complete Instructions included. Available in black or brown nylon
web on request.

ReBalance™ for Ponies
“...
ReBalance™ Sliding Side Reins are our favorite sliding side
reins. Our warmbloods took to the weight of the reins with solid
steady contact. Our sensitive horse worked fine in these reins.”
Michael Plumb's Horse Journal, May 1997

English or Western

Our tester used the Re-Balance sliding side reins
on two horses in her barn: A mature grand prix horse and a four
year old mare...Both horses seemed more able to focus on work in
the Re-Balance reins, and more ready to work on the bit, than they
were when longed either without side reins or in the more traditional
type. Our tester concluded that if she were to have only one pair
of side reins in her barn, the Re-Balance reins would be it.”
